The Facts on Teenage Pregnancy

Posted on September 30, 2017 in Uncategorized

Research conducted in the year 2007 by the Centers for Disease Control concluded that there is a three percent increase in teen pregnancies from 2005. It is also a known fact that very few of these teen mothers had planned on becoming parents. In the United States alone, close to a million teens get pregnant. These rates are much higher than those found in any other first world country. In relation to Japan and Netherlands, this is eight times high and two times higher than Canada or England.

What are the facts concerning teen pregnancy? The western culture elevates sex and forgets about the consequences and responsibilities that come with it. Sex is plastered in almost all TV commercials, from toothpaste to shoes, clothes, food, you name it. From an early age, children are used to hearing information with sexual connotations and therefore teen sex, which leads to teen pregnancy, is expected.

There are other predisposing factors that would lead to teen pregnancy. For instance, if a girl comes from a poor family, she may lack the proper kind of schooling which would help her long for a bright future and therefore she has nothing to look forward to and being pregnant is not such a big deal. Poverty will also deny her access to birth control methods. Another reason is poor grades and performance in school. Frustration in class will in some cases make a teen look for comfort in the wrong ways. If a girl was raised in a single mother’s or father’s house and other like issues will probably make a girl to be at a risk of early pregnancy.

Despite all this, it is a fact that a majority of our teens will start engaging in sex during these years. This will lead to early fatherhood or motherhood. When dealing with teenagers, we need to direct our efforts at educating them on the importance of abstaining from sex till when they are psychologically, physically, emotionally and financially ready to handle the consequences. Besides that, those who have already engaged in sex should know about preventing pregnancy, for those who are already pregnant, they will need to be informed on how to become responsible parents as well as how to prevent more pregnancies. Another very important thing to note is that teen pregnancies are not just a problem for the girls. Boys too, who share the same responsibility, should know the importance of abstaining, preventing pregnancy and taking up the responsibility of a father.

Personalised Gifts for Teenagers – A Guide to Getting It Right

Posted on September 29, 2017 in Uncategorized

Buying gifts for teenagers is a real minefield. In fact, with so many potential pitfalls, chances are you’ll be raiding their ‘hidden’ supply of vodka just to pluck up the courage to ask them what they want. That said, if you’re determined to get them something that isn’t made by Apple and doesn’t involve a wireless controller, you could do far worse than having a look through the range of personalised gifts for teenagers currently available online.

If, however, you’re still unsure, have a quick read of our fun-loving rundown to the different types of teenager*. It might just help…

1. The Pretty Ones

It doesn’t matter whether they’re a boy or a girl, you can spot these ones a mile away. They’re the group who look like an adolescent advert for Abercrombie & Fitch. They exist to look good, they dress in only the finest designer labels, and can pull a pout to make Posh look like an old bulldog.

2. Flirts

These are the guys and gals who aren’t blessed with the looks of The Pretty Ones, but who always seem to attract the attention of the opposite sex. They’re not exactly intent on a long term relationship, yet their relaxed morals always seem to garner lots of interest. Can’t think why.

3. Drama Queens

A more difficult group to sum up, Drama Queens are the teens to whom everything is a big deal. So don’t be surprised if they’re rather ‘thesp’ and throw jazz hands left, right and centre. Basically, they love the attention, even if they have to become some weird fusion of Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood to get it. They’re also likely to gossip. Just think Glee’s Kurt.

4. Jocks

Okay, so it’s a very American term. But every school has them. They’re the guys who live for sports and hang out in their own little brotherhood. They have a tendency to act like lobotomised gibbons around those outside of their inner circle, with greetings that include dead arms and head slaps.

5. Teachers’ Pets

Generally seen as a substrata – and not a very popular one at that – Teachers’ Pets are still likely to prosper long term. They know what it takes to succeed, even if it means they’re the victim of the Jocks’ dead arms and head slaps. Homework is done to a high standard and on time. And exams are passed with flying colours.

6. Emos

It’s short for emotional, so you’ll already be getting a picture. You’ll also know the look – skinny-fit jeans, tight T-shirts and a pair of All Stars or Vans. Hair tends to be long and facial piercings aren’t out of the question. Rock and punk is the music of choice, along with an outlook that makes Kurt Cobain look chirpy.

7. The Moron

Okay, so the title may be harsh, but falling into this category isn’t the end of the world. They’re not the sharpest knives in the drawer, granted, but they’re typically kind-hearted and popular among peers. It’s also not uncommon for The Moron to excel at one subject – usually PE or art.

8. Health Nuts

Most health nuts tend to be lads. They exercise and like there’s no tomorrow and diet on high-protein foods. Why? Because they want to look buff. Past times include the gym, runs, and doing weights in their bedroom. And when it comes to socialising, expect a tight T-shirt to show off their work.

9. Nerds/Geeks

Nerds are a substrata that share close ties with Teachers’ Pets. As a rule of thumb they aren’t as gifted across a range of subjects as the Teachers’ Pets and instead focus their efforts on a particular field. They may also be more inclined to rebel in their own little way – by hacking into the files of MI6, for example.

10. The Mysterious Ones

Think Christian Slater in ‘Pump Up the Volume’ and you’re about there. These are the boys and girls who keep themselves to themselves, but have a natural magnetism that attracts others. They’re typically bright but go out of their way to hide it. Chances are there’s a rebellious streak, too.

We’ve conducted no research into our publishing and accept no responsibility should you ‘drop one’ by categorising your kid in the wrong section. Moreover, if, while searching for presents for teenagers, you rely solely on our ‘findings’, feel free to pop yourself into number 7.

Importance of Sex Education Among Teenagers

Posted on September 27, 2017 in Uncategorized

In many societies, people feel embarrassed while discussing sex. It has been associated for so long with unacceptable and dirty feelings. Embarrassment also comes from the mystery surrounding this whole act. Many religious preachers preach to abstain from sex and observe abstinence to attain salvation. But in societies where sex has been open and free, it is accepted much more easily as being normal and natural.

Many families do not feel its necessary to talk on this topic. They do not discuss it to their children and as a consequence children try to discover it through their own. Generally the teens learn the major part of this vital science from their friends who themselves are not well known of the complete fact.

Boys in their puberty enjoy looking at the picture of naked women. Generally boys and men can become sexually aroused when looking at picture of naked women in magazines, adult films and by having sexual fantasies. Sexual arousal is a pleasurable feeling. So they enjoy looking at such kind of things.

Many times boys and girl masturbate. It helps relieve some of the sexual tension that is an inevitable part of growing up. Both boys and girls get involved in this type of things. Boys masturbate more than girls because the penis is more accessible and they are more used to touching it.

Masturbation is not bad for health in anyway. But always remember that it should not become compulsive. Girls and women masturbate mostly with their hands, rubbing against the sensitive, clitoris at the top of the vulva. They may use a firm action over the whole vulva. Sometimes using one or more fingers to enter the vagina and imitate the rhythmic movement of intercourse.

There is no specific age when boys or girls suddenly become interested in sex. The way they feel about it, has a lot to do with the level of sex hormones which are estrogen in girl and testosterone in boy. Physical features directly involved in sexual behaviour and reproduction. The gonads (testes and ovaries) and the external sex organs (penis and vagina) are known as primary sex characteristics.

There are few terms like promiscuous and nymphomaniac. We will discuss these terms in brief. Promiscuity is a sexual behavior which denotes having physical relation with a variety of partners. But this does not apply to the girl who carries contraceptives. It is a wise step to keep contraceptives as she is accepting responsibility for her actions. She cares both for herself and her partners.

Nymphomaniac is a compulsive need for sexual stimulation and gratification in women, frequently leading to promiscuity or to masturbation performed several time a day. But in this case it simply means that she is young and healthy. But if a girl feels sexy for more than one boy at a time, it does not mean she is nymphomaniac.
